Parent Forum: Nurturing Faith & Mental Health in Children

Sunday, October 20th
10:45am - 12pm
Bethany Presbyterian Church, Fellowship Hall
Childcare and snacks provided. Please register below.

Parents, guardians, and caregivers of kids and youth are invited to this special class. Join us as we explore the powerful intersection of spiritual and emotional well-being. Our guest speaker Susan Essex, will discuss effective strategies to support children's mental health from a faith based approach - prioritizing joy, empathy, resilience, and growth. As a group, we will discuss practical tools for parents, educators, and caregivers to create a balanced and supportive environment. There will be ample time for Q &A with Susan as well as time to discuss forum content with peers in table groups. Equip yourself with the knowledge to nurture both the mind and spirit of the children in your life, ensuring they thrive in all aspects of their spiritual and emotional development.

Susan Essex is the Director of Student Support at The Overlake School, in Redmond, WA. As a certified adolescent behavioral counselor, Susan leads a team of personal counselors, learning specialists, and study skills educators to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of students. Susan attends Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Duvall where she is the volunteer lead for youth and family programming. Susan's work is grounded in strong faith and behavioral health strategies.

Goals & Volunteering

Our goal is to provide a safe and loving environment for children where we:
teach the foundations of the Christian faith;
challenge to accept the adventure of discipleship;
encourage to take part in the community of faith at Bethany.

To each child at Bethany, we want you to know that:
you are deeply loved by Jesus Christ;
loving and obeying God is an adventure that will last your whole life;
you are an important part of our church family.
