Youth Ministry Internships
Position summary:
Bethany Presbyterian Church offers two Youth Ministry Internships to persons who are interested in exploring Christian Youth Ministry in a “hands-on” setting. At Bethany, our Youth Interns will experience the practical and effective skills of youth ministry. The Interns will work alongside the Director of Youth Ministries, ministering to Middle School or High School students and their families. This will involve building relationships with youth and parents, program leadership, and administration.
Philosophy:
An Internship is a learning experience for both the Church and the Intern, and in that regard both parties bring much to the table. We want to receive from the ministry that our Youth Interns will offer, and we also want to provide a meaningful and enriching learning experience for them. We endeavor to do this by exposing them to the full breadth of our youth ministry, while offering our Interns training and interactive supervision.
Hours and Compensation:
Middle School Youth Ministry Intern
15hours per week at $10/hr, $650/month
High School Youth Ministry Intern
25 hours per week at $12/hr, $1300/month
Commitment:
9 ½ months, September to mid-June (somewhat adjustable depending on start date)
Qualifications:
- Personal commitment to Jesus Christ.
- Good interpersonal skills; faithful; available; and teachable
- Feels a calling toward youth ministry, and desires practical training and experience
Responsibilities:
The Interns will work under the supervision of the Youth Director with responsibilities in Middle School or High School ministries, which currently meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (respectively), and on Sunday mornings. Specific responsibilities include:
1. Develop a relational ministry with Middle School/High School youth through spending time with students at official youth ministry events, and informally outside of regular events.
2. Participate in the planning and implementation of weekly Youth meetings (Sundays/Tuesdays or Thursdays) and other special events working with our committed volunteer Youth Leaders.
3. Meet regularly with the Youth Director for prayer, training, planning, and nurture.
