During a healing prayer session the missionary said through sobs… “When I was a little boy my father worked for the government. My parents sent me away at 7 when a revolution near our village threatened violence. That long journey is where I learned how to fight with my fists… it was so hard… I got beat there… I never lived with my parents again.”
I asked, “When have you cried about this before?”
“I’ve never,” he replied.
In the midst of this prayer time Jesus was so tender and powerful. I have no doubt that the Lord took the pains in this missionary’s heart and put them right into his own. After an hour of healing prayer he was a man with a renewed understanding of the Lord’s goodness to him - sobs became laughter, and joy lightened the air in the room.
As the missionaries in Servant Partners increasingly come from the developing world their life experiences reflect that reality. As the Member Care Director, I find the Lord very committed to their healing – so that they can minister from a place of freedom, health and love.
As Connie ministers to missionaries, Scott’s work is creating them. As Director for the work of InterVarsity in the 7 states of the Rocky Mountain Region, he and his staff ended the year celebrating 80 new believers entering the Kingdom of God.
For 20 years now we have felt our work to be about creating “Pauls” out of “Sauls” - thank you for your partnership in that endeavor!
Scott & Connie Anderson work with Servant Partners & InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.
