(Bethany Men's) Breakfast is Served

by John Chase

I recently heard (from reliable pop-culture sources) that bacon is making a big comeback. Honestly, I don’t think it ever really went out of fashion. But now, it seems, bacon is “sizzling hot,” and by that I mean “super cool.” In fact, some have gone so far as to get pictures of bacon tattooed on their upper arms. I have an on-going list of things I hope to find in heaven: dogs and cats, Tauntauns, snow, mangoes, dark chocolate, vanilla lattes and, of course, bacon. Scripture speaks of a great banquet for God’s people at the end of the age. Could I get bacon and eggs, or a BLT at that banquet? I don’t know, but I can always hope.

I’ve also recently heard (from reliable ecclesial-pastoral sources) that men’s fellowship is making a big comeback at Bethany. I don’t think it ever went out of fashion, but more opportunities are currently in the works, beginning with a Men’s Breakfast on Saturday, May 30, 8:00-10:00 am. All Bethany men are invited to this time of food, fellowship, worship and conversation around the topic of “Living Authentic Faith in the Workplace.” A panel of speakers will share from their own experiences and invite us to enter in with ours. If you are new to Bethany or would just like to connect with other Bethany men, please come!

I don’t know if there will be bacon in heaven, but I do know that there will be bacon at the Men’s Breakfast. And I can assure you that there will be a hearty breakfast, lots of coffee, and great conversation and fellowship. Set your alarm clocks and we’ll hope to see you there.
